Objectives In recent years the ability of regulators to remain knowledgeable has been severely tested by both the rapid development of technology as well as the increasingly diverse and complex types of activities in which private financial intermediaries (specifically hedge funds, private equity and venture capital firms) are now engaged. Recognizing the need for a unified voice to work with Congress and the regulatory agencies in setting policy, HFPE endeavors to bring together key members of a diverse yet representative cross section of those involved in the private and public sectors of the private equity industry. HFPE's primary goal is to foster a continuing open dialogue between the public and private sectors to encourage the establishment of a rational regulatory and legislative framework that will sufficiently benefit and protect private investors while continuing to further the growth of capital markets.
